EIRCOM PREVIEW

1/3
Bohemians might soon be groundsharing

with rivals Shelbourne. It will be

quite a shock to see a different team

calling Dalymount their home after

'the Boez' have used it exclusively

for over 100 years. I’m not sure how

Bohemians’ fans will react. It will be

sad to see Bohemians sometimes as the

away team in their own ground.

On the other hand, the league has to

progress. Good luck to both teams I say.

2/3
Gareth Farrelly, the Bohemian manager

has not had it easy. 3 losses in the

first 3 games has given a lot of

ammunition for the sadly famous

Bohemians’ Boo Boys. It would be great

if Farrelly could get some of his soccer

playing friends to turn out in the famous

red and black before they retire.

Imagine seeing stars like Abel Xavier

or Duncan Ferguson coming out of the

tunnel in Phibsboro. That would add

possibly thousands to the gate.

Regardless, hopefully Farrelly can dig

deep into his wealth of experience from

playing in England to turn things around

at Bohemians.

I for one, wish him well.

There was a lot of consternation round

Dalymount way when the new all-black

home jersey was unveiled. A lot of

traditionalists wanted the red and

black stripes to stay. While I can

see their point, what if the new jersey

is a hit? The money it brings in could

then be used to buy top players. That

should keep everyone happy. Although

it is a bit sad to see tradition so

easily discarded. Can you imagine Real

Madrid not wearing white at home? Or

Manchester United switching to blue in

Old Trafford? Regardless of who pulls

on the jersey, whatever the colour,

hopefully they will live up to the proud

Bohemian tradition of entertaining the

fans with skilful football.
